This year's club trip was
to Mattawoman Creek on the Potomac River in Maryland (camping at
Smallwood State Park). This is a location that our club used to
take annual trips to in our early days. The boat groups that
attended
this year's trip
were: Fred Lentz/Rick
Lentz;
Scott Bowen/Bill Ridel; Bill Duckardt/
Dennis Snyder; Jim Miller/Mike Miller Jr; Mike Miller Sr; Sean
Summers. On
this trip we held lunker contests on two days and a five bass tourney
on one day. A torrential downpour took place on the day we drove
down and that severely muddied the water in almost all fishing areas
for the
whole time we were there. In general the
fishing
was very slow, with all of the boats struggling to catch bass over the
15 inch minimum size. The weather
was
nice on most of the days, but there was a lot of debris on the water
from the storm. Four of the boat groups
each hosted a dinner for the entire club group.
