For the second year in a
row, our club trip was
to Mattawoman Creek on the Potomac River in Maryland (camping at
Smallwood State Park). This is a location that our club used to
take annual trips to in our early days. The boat groups that
attended
this year's trip
were: Scott Bowen/Bill Ridel;
Bill Duckardt/
Dennis Snyder; Sean Summers/Fred Lentz. On
this trip we held a lunker contests on one day, a three-bass tourney on
one day and a five bass tourney
on one day. The first three days of the trip were marked by
drizzly, misty conditions and a drop in water temperature. The
sun and warm air temps finally made an appearance near the end of the
trip. In general the
fishing
was very slow, with all of the boats struggling to catch bass over the
15 inch minimum size. Each of
the three boat groups hosted a dinner for the entire club group.
As usual, a good time was had by all.
